Irène Jacob goes to a rural cinema to see a retrospective. She has been invited by Pierre, an 83-year-old, well-educated man who runs the film club that has organised the screening of the film "Trois Couleurs Rouge". During the showing she observes that while Pierre's wife Simone keeps her eye on the screen, her mouth is constantly at her husband's ear. After the film, when Pierre stands up and feels his way to the stage to speak about the film, Irène Jacob notices that this elderly film aficionado is in fact blind. [Pressetext]
