Marc Tourneuil (Gad Elmaleh) becomes the CEO of Phenix, a big European bank, when the former head is diagnosed with cancer. Having worked in the shadows of the great man before then, Tourneuil finally gets to apply his own strategy and make the institution work. This is not your father's bank: the order of the day is immense projects, mergers, buyouts and mass firings, along with trips in private jets and high class call girls. Everything to satisfy the stockholders and to increase the company's value on the exchanges. Aware he's being manipulated and sitting in an ejector seat, he's also noticed the knives at his back. Tourneuil manages to avoid them by striking first if necessary to survive...

Cac 40, stock speculation, insider trading, buyouts, firings, profits, stock options and bonuses: this is a real world that doesn't need to be caricatured to be criticized. The always militant Costa-Gavras makes liberal use of stereotypes to describe the players in finance as childish beings who are endlessly in search of recognition and approval. Gad Elmaleh's performance in front of the camera and in narration ends up breaking down both open doors and his own character.
