Ralph, the bad guy from an 8-Bit video game is tired of his role: he breaks out of the game and goes to fight evil.

Ralph is the bad guy from the game "Fix-it Felix Jr.", and as such is damned to always lose. But he desperately wants to win, so he sneaks out of his game at night through the power cable into the Central Game Station and smuggles himself into Hero's Duty – where he is soon overwhelmed by the high-tech graphics. Because he steals a medal, Sergeant Calhoun is hot on his trail when he moves on to the next game. Ralph has to break free or it will be "Game Over" all too soon.

Wreck-it Ralph is full of video game favorites from the past 30 years: "Sonic the Hedgehog", the gang from "Street Fighter 2", even a ghost from "Pac-Man" – old school gamers will recognize them all. The first part of the movie is astonishingly daring and highly original – reflecting the energy of these games during their time. But when Ralph meets a girl who is an outsider like him, it all suddenly turns into the usual Disney mush – leaving a disappointed audience of adults behind and concentrating only on the kids.
