Sisters
Divorced, single and responsible, Maura Ellis is the exact opposite of her sister Kate, who is an uncontrollable, unstable, single mother. When they discover that their parents have decided to sell their childhood home and rebuild their lives elsewhere, the sisters are absolutely shocked. Because they refuse to accept the news, Maura and Kate organize a big party in the home they grew up in, inviting all their friends and former high school enemies for one last blow-out.
The main draw of a comedy starring Tina Fey and Amy Poehler is Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. And so the filmmakers should have included the now expected but always compelling bits the two American actresses specialize in to give some substance to this simplistic comedy phoned in by director Jason Moore (Pitch Perfect), which he structures around a well-oiled machine that is terribly ordinary, despite great efforts made to add some meat and surprise to the ending. Surrounded by well-known faces like Maya Rudolph (Bridesmaids) and Kate McKinnon (Ghostbusters), Fey and Poehler spend a great amount of energy to add life to the improbable story, and they succeed thanks to their extraordinary comedic skills.
